Symphyotrichum cordifolium--Heart-Leaved Aster

Heart-Leaved aster grows to about 3-4 feet tall and is covered in bluish-purple blooms. It blooms late in the growing season so it provides much needed food for fall pollinators. Asters can get a reputation for becoming "weedy." To prevent this, cut it back by half in June to promote a shorter, bushier growth. When maintained, it makes a great addition to any formal landscaping.
